| ADVOCATE HEALTH CARE SOLUTION | |
As the Chicagoland's second largest employer, Advocate Health Care's IT landscape involves
a myriad of internally developed software and enterprise-wide purchased systems.
Advocate Medical Group (AMG), a division of Advocate Health Care, was faced with managing
application level security for all of their custom developed software in a highly
secure environment. While AMG employees have Microsoft
Windows Active Directory accounts, their corporate counterparts rely upon Sun's iPlanet
LDAP for authentication.
Byte Sized Solutions created an easy-to-use, middle-tier security framework allowing
AMG developers to seamlessly tie disparate accounts together
regardless of whether users authenticate with Windows Active Directory or Sun iPlanet
LDAP.
Byte Sized Solutions took the concept of user management
a step further and incorporated contact information, management hierarchy, payroll
identification, and automatic updates from the corporate human resources system
and intranet. In addition, all user management and security dialogs were incorporated
in the framework allowing new applications to be secured and managed with only a
few lines of code.
The solution developed for Advocate was typical of the industry best practices approach
used by Byte Sized Solutions. Byte Sized Solutions employs standard project
methodologies in all aspects of project management, including requirements
gathering, analysis and design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation.
In addition, Byte Sized Solutions also typically follows test driven design (TDD) practices. |
